Sustainable Packaging

Having sustainable packaging on products is one of the most important aspects in retail. Taking responsibility for reducing waste and stopping unnecessary waste entering land fill is one of our top priorities. We are far from being perfect but we always have plenty to do on our journey to becoming the best we can.

Whenever we produce our own plant stock we grow them in recyclable pots so they can be easily recycled at home. We also reuse plant carry trays for as long as possible so we don’t needlessly buy more each year. We let customers use our excess carry trays to hold plants whilst shopping and take all relevant boxes from deliveries and reuse them at our tills to make it easier to transport in cars.

A lot of shop goods are now coming in cardboard packaging to make recycling much easier. Good examples of this are seed packets, gardening gloves, pelleted feeds and tools.

Ideas for the future are always on our mind. One is to grow all of our bedding in fully compostable pots so that they can be added to compost bins rather than domestic waste.
