Recycling & Reusing

With many of our products arriving with extra packaging to keep it safe during transit from suppliers, it’s important that we aim to reuse or recycle as much of this as possible to reduce our environmental impact.

At our checkouts, we provide cardboard boxes and paper bags. All of our branded bags which are made from paper, can be recycled in household recycling bins. We reuse or recycle all suitable cardboard boxes and plastic plant trays that we obtain from our suppliers after a delivery arrives.

Plants & Nursery

At Smith’s we have two nurseries on site, and are proud to grow a large percentage of top quality plants that we sell in the Garden Centre. This includes all of our annual bedding plants and an adequate range of perennials and shrubs. All of our homegrown plants are now grown in recyclable pots.

Cafe

Our cafe has swapped out plastic and styrofoam for paper straws, cardboard take away boxes and wooden take away cutlery. All of our bottled drinks are now sold in glass bottles or cans which can be widely recycled.
