Product Sourcing

When buying in products, whether they are plants or shop goods, we always try to source responsibly. Our main priority is to include British Grown, British Made, Eco-Credentials and Peat Free where possible.

Large portions of our plant categories including bedding, vegetables, herbs, shrubs and trees all come from UK growers. Most now use their own transport to get the goods to us each week. Where possible, most of our growers now use peat free compost in their products.

Our coffee supplier, Beanworks Coffee Roasters, have a multitude of ways they reduce their environmental impact and source sustainably. The most interesting and relevant one is their waste management where by local farmers will collect the nitrogen-rich chaff (by-product) to use as compost.

Our outdoor trellis supplier uses sustainable, slow-grown softwood sourced from FSC^® certified (FSC^®-C114990) and PEFC-certified (PEFC/16-37-1490) forests, expertly selected for beauty and durability.

Our outdoor pot supplier, Woodlodge, uses energy provided by wind turbines to power their warehouses and offices. They have managed to generate enough energy to brew 1.4 million cups of tea a year!
