If you’ve ever had a delivery from us, you’re likely to have met Mark. He’s usually out and about with our customer orders or collecting from suppliers. And of course, this month he’s been busy taking lots of lovely Christmas trees out. You may have heard him singing away around the centre, too!
You’ll also find Mark as part of our team that’s volunteering next month to collect Christmas Trees with Coventry & Warwickshire Charity Christmas Tree-Cycling.
Mark’s Favourite Plant for Winter Colour: Skimmia
Skimmia are low maintenance, evergreen and even great for shadier areas of the garden. They can be planted directly into the ground or used in containers. We’re always drawn to Skimmia for our planted pots for a pop of autumn/winter colour – They have a compact growing habit so nestle in amongst other plants perfectly.
Mark’s Favourite Season for Delivering: Christmas
Definitely Christmas! Mark enjoys delivering around Christmas as people’s faces always light up when their tree arrives. There’s always a lovely atmosphere when delivering community Christmas Trees too.
Top Tips for your Christmas Tree:
Cut around half an inch from the bottom of the trunk and place it into water as soon as possible, this helps your tree hold onto its needles for longer.
Ensure the water is topped up regularly, expect to water your tree several times especially during the first few days whilst it adjusts to your home.
Avoid positioning your tree in hot spots, like next to the fire or a radiator, your tree will thrive in a cool dry position.
Mark’s Top Tip for the Winter:
Good time to maintain your tools – clean, polish, sharpen if necessary.
Hot Chocolate’s are a must on a cold day!
